When I first heard of EC, I was skeptical. However, I liked the conception that my baby might accumulate by without a diaper rash and would be out of diapers as soon as possible (typically by 25 months.) I added the books “Infant Potty Training” by Laurie Boucke and “Diaper Free: The Gentle Wisdom of Natural Infant Hygiene” by Ingrid Bauer to my prenatal reading list. What they said made sense and my husband and I decided we would try EC when our baby was born. WOW! I am so satisfied we went down this path.

This dvd is valid for parents who are first starting out. Reading a book, looking at tranquil photos, and joining online groups is nothing like seeing it in action. There’s so worthy information in the dvd that, if I were inexperienced, I’d probably witness it a gazillion times (along with reading the books and joining the online groups.) What is most proper is seeing so many different ways of working with so many different ages of babies and toddlers. There’s no one proper method, there’s a different apt diagram for each baby at each stage of their infancy and toddlerhood, and this dvd lets you search for quite a number of different styles.

As someone who’s almost 14 months into the process, I was encouraged by the scenes of older toddlers. It’s so easy to find lost in where you are today that you forget the demolish result is an independent child. It was also fun to view how our style compares to that of other families. The shrimp boy honest waking up from a nap and holding his pee until he was given the cueing sound could have been my son. The woman from Australia made sewing pants for her baby scrutinize really easy. Then there’s the scene of the young toddler ec’ing her doll. That had to be the cutest scene in the dvd.

For anyone hazardous if they want to undertake EC, the process is simple. Watching the dvd will not only reinforce the basics, but it will indicate you the subtleties. How do you absorb a 1 week musty? How does a toddler ticket “potty? ” What clothing, equipment, and bedding facilitate EC? Then there’s the colossal question-why would anyone want to exhaust this diagram? You fetch to meet a lot of different people to salvage out why and how they spend EC. Additionally, if you’re like me, watching the dvd will greatly carve the scare at trying something you’ve never even seen done before.

The EC process:

1. Create the cueing sound (typically “pssss”) whenever your baby pees or poops. They fast associate the sound with the action.

2. Look your baby for any signs they need to go. Not all babies will give cues. Sometimes you have to go by intuition. In our case, we’ve gone by timing. We’ve been at this for over a year and only timing has been successful for us. (Although yesterday, 5 days shocked of 14 months, he actually extinct the hand signal 4 times to present he had to pee or poop! Today hasn’t been so fine, though. Typical up and downs of toddler learning.)

3. If you deem your baby has to go, occupy them to the potty space and construct the cueing sound. The potty dwelling could be a bowl, an infant potty, the toilet, or the backyard flowers. If they have to go, they will. If it’s not time, you try again later.

4. Relax. Don’t conception on 100% success. This is not about “potty training.” This is about taking care of your infant’s needs in a healthful, economical, environmentally reliable scheme while you are also teaching them about their bodies.

One of the chief criticisms of this technique is that the parents do all the work. Of course they do. These are babies. They are incapable of taking off clothing, undoing diapers, wiping themselves, etc. Parents do all the work in standard American potty training. But they do it for a lot longer than people who EC. My son isn’t even 14 months and he signed to me that he needed to poop. He went in the toilet and I venerable 1 wipe to desirable him up. Yes, I did all the work, but he’s the one who initiated it. I’d say he will be totally independent years before most of his peers. Also, he’s never had a diaper rash and I doubt if he’ll ever derive one.

I’ve been so vocal about EC that a number of families I know have tried it. Most have done so on a part-time basis. They are keeping their babies aware of their bodies while living very busy lives.

I have been giving the Sears “The Baby Book” as a baby shower gift. I will now also give this dvd. Not all families will resolve this way, but at least those I know will have the information should they resolve to go this arrangement. This dvd would also be sizable for skeptical relatives. There are so many families and medical professionals and so many babies who are unprejudiced doing their thing. It really lets you examine this is a gentle, baby-friendly plot of taking care of an infant’s basic needs.

This dvd provides info on local or online groups and lists various online retailers specializing in EC. For more information, you can also go to diaperfreebaby. It’s a dot org dwelling.

19 month update–Our son continues to do well with EC. He rarely has accidents in his training pants. Typically no more than once a day (and that’s usually because we’ve objective gotten home and I’m too distracted to remember to ask him to pee.) Sometimes he will impress “potty.” Other times he unprejudiced grabs my hand and leads me into the bathroom. He’s mild not totally independent in letting me know every time he has to go (there are unbiased too many distinguished things in the world to do to recall a demolish to pee.) Most of the time I win him into the bathroom to sit on the potty. If he needs to go he does, otherwise we unbiased read a book and arrive succor later for another try. I can disclose we are very end to being completely potty trained. I notice other people battling 3 year olds to change their diapers and I am so gratified I don’t have to do that.

It’s one thing to read about infant pottying in theory. It’s another to recognize it in action. That’s the value of this video. I showed it to a friend of mine, who was convinced that it was too powerful difficulty, yet enthusiastic to know ‘the basics.’ Shortly after viewing the first three sections of this video, her 3 month customary daughter began to fuss and I suggested she try to pee her. And guess what? The mom was truly impressed and surprised when her baby peed into a potty for the very first time! It was so simple. Watching this video will support any parent learn the basics, and probably inspire them to give it a try! The interviews with professionals provide animated research and commentary, and the portraits of different families give an in depth ogle at particular circumstances and special cases. Not only is this video an trustworthy learning tool, it is beautifully set aside together, chock pudgy of charming footage of babies and families, with fun, upbeat music as accompaniment. It’s not unprejudiced a how to, or why to, it’s a testiment to the treasure and warmth that develops between parent and child when potty training is done in this gentle draw. Thus, it is a considerable tool for all parents who have young children.

Season 4 of ‘Dallas’ continues apace, and, to directly contradict the spotlight review above, is most certainly the equal of, and in many places, surpasses the very high standards state down in Season 3.

Okay, so we all know who shot J.R. I won’t spoil it for the two-and-a-half people left on the planet who do not know, but with the first four episodes done and dusted, there’s a wealth of unique situations and characters and mishaps waiting to be introduced to the unhappiest family in Texas.

New sons, unique mothers and modern (and ancient!) wives are fair for starters: Season 4 also brings us resurrections, infidelities, engineered foreign revolutions, oil terrorism, murders and more high-octane drama than you can shake an oily stick at. The more standout recurring characters approach in the shape of Susan Howard as Donna Culver and Leigh McCloskey as Mitch Cooper (the whiniest chauvanist since… …ever!), and the resident cast is every bit as watchable and lovable as before.

While Season 4 of ‘Dallas’ does have distinguished of the previous high standards of writing and acting, there’s a decidedly more ’soapy’ air on reveal - although nowhere as odd as ‘Dynasty’, there are distinct situations, such as the rapidly deterioration of Bobby and Pam’s marriage, or the reintroduction of one of Sue Ellen’s extinct flames, that hint at the beginnings of that gloriously escapist behemoth known as 80’s Prime Time. Collected, it’s a very subtle shift, and this isn’t a complaint; rather, the Ewings are changing for the better.

All in all, Season 4 of Dallas is truly reliable. In addition, audio/visual quality is, as ever, generous, and the extra ‘Return to Southfork’ documentary, though obviously and painfully scripted, is a nice touch - particularly to spy fair how extraordinarily well Miss Linda Grey has ragged!

Highly recommended, now PLEASE won’t y’all release the rest of the explain??

Season Four of the sinfully-good CBS-TV nighttime, prime-time soap opera “Dallas” came out on DVD on January 24th, 2006, in a nice-looking 4-Disc dwelling, which contains all 23 full-length, fourth-year episodes (running about 49 minutes each) .

This plot, as most Dallas fans surely realize, has within it the episode that resolves the “Who Shot J.R.? ” epic arc. It’s episode #4 of this season (”Who Done It? “), which first aired on Friday night, November 21st, 1980. And it looks objective tremendous on this DVD (as do all the other episodes as well) . The video quality here, like the earlier DVD sets of “Dallas” save out by Warner Home Video, looks A-OK to me.

Prior to the much-anticipated airing of “Who Done It? ” in tedious November of 1980 (which was delayed in getting aired by about two months due to an actors’ strike in Hollywood that shut down production of all TV series), it had been exactly eight months since TV viewers had seen the season-ending cliffhanger where we look J.R. Ewing being filled with hot lead from the gun of an unseen and unknown would-be murderer.

That meant eight long months of guesswork engaged in by fans of the series, trying to figure out who plugged John Ross Ewing II. I can vividly capture the media build-up to the “Who Done It? ” episode in 1980. It was something else. Everyone was talking “Dallas” and speculating as to who might have been the gunman (or gunwoman) . And there wasn’t a shortage of “suspects” either, apt on up to Miss Ellie Ewing, J.R.’s fill mother! Several people opinion Ellie had had enough of her eldest son’s backstabbing shenanigans and had decided to choose matters (and a slay weapon) into her enjoy hands.

Anyway, those months leading up to the huge cliffhanger-resolution 4th reveal of the year were truly something to witness. So it’s no wonder that the “Who Done It? ” episode managed to smash all kinds of television records. 41,470,000 homes (”households”) were tuned to “Dallas” that Friday night in 1980 to search for who it was that tried to raze Mr. Ewing, shattering the previous television ratings’ narrate (held at that time by the last episode of “The Fugitive” in 1967) for the highest-rated and most-watched single TV program in history.*

* = Total number of steady “viewers” watching “Dallas” on 11/21/1980, however, was distinguished higher than the 41-Million-plus figure previously mentioned. From data I’ve gathered on the Internet, there were approximately 83,000,000 people watching “Dallas” that night in the United States. (Although some sources list this “Total Number Of People Watching” stat as greater than 90-Million.)

Another spellbinding statistic that surrounds the airing of the “Who Done It? ” episode is the fact that commercial advertisements that were seen on CBS-TV that night cost those sponsors $500,000 per cramped. And, remember, that was many, many years ago, in 1980. Whew! J.R. would no doubt be very proud of those monetary stats!

Of course, that half-a-million-dollars-per-minute TV ad cost, circa 1980, is dwarfed by some similar 21st-century stats….e.g., the average cost for a 30-second TV state during the annual Spruce Bowl telecast reached a staggering $2.4-Million (as of 2005) .

This fourth year of “Dallas”, which is considered by many valid “Dallas” fans to really be impartial the third (plump) season of the present, in addition to containing some of the most-memorable episodes from the whole series, also marks the dark departure of Jim Davis (who played “Jock Ewing”, the always-gruff and no-nonsense head of the Ewing family and Ewing Oil empire) .

Jim Davis died at the age of 71 on April 26, 1981, which was fair days before this fourth-season’s cliffhanging finale (”Ewing-Gate”) was aired on CBS. Jim’s/Jock’s presence was indeed missed by this writer during the subsequent seasons of “Dallas”. And while the character of “Clayton Farlow” (played by the slack Howard Keel) was a stunning well-behaved character in his acquire accurate, there was unprejudiced no replacing Jock Ewing. Couldn’t be done.

As fate would have it, Keel passed away on the dependable day that the “Dallas Reunion” special originally aired on network TV in early November 2004. He was 85 years frail. That very Reunion special is also included in its entirety in this DVD spot.

This DVD aggregation contains four double-sided discs, which are held in two overlapping disc trays within a smaller and more-compact Digipak case than was worn for the two earlier DVD collections. The footprint (spine width) of this 4th-season pack is a mere 3/4 of an lunge.

When all four discs are removed from the two DVD-holding compartments, an impressive-looking underlying image emerges beneath the plastic trays — a portray of a “smoking gun”. A nice packaging touch.

There is no booklet included here in the Season-Four site. And the slimmer packaging reduces the amount of room for episode info…so there are no detailed (or even non-detailed) episode descriptions to be found on the innards of the box. The episode titles and airdates are listed however.

The outer slipcase box features photos of three of the main cast members (J.R., Pam, and Bobby), with the Dallas city skyline in the background. And while these three pics on the front camouflage are cut-and-paste jobs, I mediate the conceal looks very nice.

And I impartial like the amusing blurb on the abet of the outer box here too. A fraction of it reads — “Who shot J.R.? One of the men he cheated in business? One of the women he cheated in savor? Or is the culprit closer to home: a member of the great, glum Ewing family who figured to sever the weasel population of Texas by one? ”

Excellent! That packaging verbiage deserves a huge ol’ “LOL” too! :-)

Bonus Feature:

There are no Audio Commentaries included here, but the folks at Warner Home Video have included a really nice extra bonus item on Side B of Disc #4 of this residence — “Dallas Reunion: The Return To Southfork”.

First seen on CBS on November 7th, 2004, this 2-hour Reunion special (87 minutes on the DVD, without the unique commercials) was watched by more than 9-Million people during its initial airing. It ranked an impressive #20 in the Nielsen ratings for that week.

The Reunion Special is a very fun program to spy, with many unique “Dallas” cast members (including Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, and Victoria Distinguished) getting together at the proper “Southfork” Ranch in Texas to piece their individual and collective remembrances of the TV series (which ended its distinguished 357-episode network bustle in 1991) .

The “Reunion” is filled with cast-member anecdotes, bloopers, behind-the-scenes footage, and more qualified stuff too. A nifty exiguous fraction of the Reunion program centers its attention on the “Best Dallas Cliffhangers”. And there’s some bright unaired footage that was filmed during the “Who Shot J.R.? ” frenzy, which includes scenes of various “suspects” firing the eminent shot heard ’round the TV world.

Some of the outtake/blooper footage is hilarious. I especially like the outtake which has a frustrated Barbara Bel Geddes (”Miss Ellie”) unleashing an unmentionable invective as she blows a line of dialogue. The curse word has been “bleeped out” by the CBS censors, but it’s unexcited amusing anyhow, because you know Barbara uttered something roguish. :)

All-in-all, this Dallas Reunion is a very friendly and delightful notice serve at one of TV’s pioneering “nighttime soaps”, a note that entered American living rooms for 14 consecutive years, spanning parts of three separate decades.

Some Season-Four DVD Specs:

VIDEO — These 23 episodes are displayed in their native Full-Frame ratio (1.33:1), as first aired in 1980-1981. The 2004 Reunion special is also presented in 1.33:1 Full-Frame, as originally seen.

AUDIO — Dolby Digital 1.0 Mono for all episodes (English only) . The Retrospective Documentary includes a DD 2.0 Stereo soundtrack.

SUBTITLES — In English, French, and Spanish. No subtitles are provided for the Reunion special though.

CHAPTERS? — Yes. Each episode is divided into 6 chapters, and the originally-aired “previews” are intact prior to the main titles on all episodes. The “Next Week On Dallas” trailers at the slay of each prove are not included, however. (Note: The Reunion special is not broken up into individual chapters.)

MENUS — The S.4 Menus are unbiased like those from the earlier “Dallas” sets, featuring the main-title theme music playing on a continuous loop while the Main Menu is on camouflage. Sub-Menus can be accessed for “Episodes”, “Languages”, and “Special Features”. Plus, there’s a “Play” option on the Main Menu too. Selecting that item will “Play All” of the three episodes on that side of the disc without interruption. (There are unbiased two episodes on the “B” side of the last disc, however — plus the lengthy Reunion documentary.)

The Main Menu on each disc and side features a relate of the Ewing family….although Jock isn’t in the represent. I can’t figure out the reason for this blatant omission, because Jock was smooth in the cast during this season. Donna, Ray, and Cliff are shown on the Main Menu, but not Jock. That’s a shame, too, because Jock should certainly be included in a “family” type portrait (circa Season 4; ‘80-’81) .

——————

This Season-Four DVD collection of “Dallas” is an distinguished bewitch for those who already have Season #3. I cannot imagine having one without the other. Those two “Dallas” seasons go together like hand-and-glove.

To be able to gain the forever-popular “Who Done It? ” episode (and the eps. that lead up to it) in a stunning, digitally-preserved format, as we glimpse here, for a very reasonable ticket stamp, is something that virtually all “Dallas” fans should be pleased about.

And, on top of that, with a feature-length documentary program tacked on to this DVD situation as a bonus, it makes “Dallas: The Complete Fourth Season” an even better ’steal of a deal’. I’m not too definite that even the scheming J.R. Ewing himself could have wangled a better deal for this DVD package. ;)

Elia Kazan’s “East of Eden” is based on the John Steinbeck current of the same name. It is a unique legend of Kane and Abel.

While the film is certainly amazing, probably its greatest claim to fame is that it was James Dean’s first film. It is rare, today, that we observe a novice young actor (remember Dean was only 22 when this movie was made) glean a leading role in a high profile drama - as this was - and then nail it so well that critics everywhere fell under his spell. Prior to this film, Dean had only made a handful of commericials, television appearances, and one or two worthwhile theatrical roles.

In an era when “screenplay” meant acting for the hide and playing it for the last row, Dean, Clift, and (personally, regrettably) Brando, were the only actors out there playing for reality.

Buy,Download, Or Stream East of Eden! Click Here

Dean’s Cal is a tortured youth, who has never won his strict father’s (the formidable Raymond Massey) acceptance and desperately seeks to do so. His brother, Aaron (played by Dick Davalos), is obviously favored by the father and this further salts the wounds that Cal carries. Julie Harris plays Aaron’s fiance as a fawning and often obsequious girl, which can be a bit more than off putting at times.

Joan Van Swiftly portrays Cal and Aaron’s “stupid” mother. Rather than suffer the embarrassment of admitting his failures as a husband, father, and man, the boys’ father tells them and everyone else that their mother long ago died. In truth she has been running a bordello in the next town.

Through a series of machinations, Cal meets his mother, and asks for her assistance in winning over his father. The site fails miserably for Cal, setting off a chain of events from which no one can return.

Dean’s performance - the only one to be seen while he was alive - registered off the Richter scale with the youth of the 1950’s. Never before had they seen someone their age relate someone their age in such a believable manner. He became an instant star.

As is typical, Hollywood has attempted to remake this film several times, and did so failingly. While the acting often can seem over the top, no one has ever been able to acquire the lightning in a bottle that Kazan did with his unbelievable cast in this truly classic film.

I first watched this movie on television when I was about 16, because I wondered what all the fuss was about James Dean. I soon found out: he was so unbelievably natural in his acting technique that the audience is captivated by his brilliance. This was Dean’s film debut and he burst like a thunderclap in the public’s ears, not to mention staid Hollywood, which came to both awe and love the radiant, rebellious youth. In this haunting John Steinbeck record, Dean is the neurotic half of twin sons belonging to Bible - reading lettuce farmer Raymond Massey, whose enormous acreage stretches through the rich Salinas Valley in California. Aron (Davalos, in another distinguished debut) is the well-adjusted upstanding son whose normal relationship with his girlfriend and his diligent pursuit of continuing his father’s legacy is admired by the patriarch. Cal is very different from his brother and the troublesome youth mistakenly believes his father doesn’t treasure him. A haunting scene has Dean introduce Davalos to their supposedly tedious mother. The boys were brain-washed by their father into believing their mother Kate was some sort of angel: the truthful realisation that she’s a financially successful Madam who operates a whorehouse in Monterey causes Davalos to become deeply traumatised. Many people will feel empathy for BOTH brothers during this remarkable scene: it shows us that Cal is, if anything, True while his brother is somewhat sheltered and idealistic in comparison. The performances are all splendidly colourful and absorbing: Dean is unforgettable as Cal - for whom the audience feels empathy - Julie Harris is radiant as Abra (she succumbs to Cal’s raw sexuality) and Jo Van Like A Flash is trustworthy as the tough yet essentially tender-hearted tubercular Kate who likes her boy Cal because he “has sense” as she believes she does. Raymond Massey is lovely as the puritanical father, Adam. Burl Ives is memorable as Sam: he quotes the Biblical passage which includes the picture’s title. Some necessary snobs say that the film was over-directed by Kazan but it made Dean an over-night sensation who acted with a current naturalistic style and died a anecdote at the tender age of 24.

Kiss Me, Humdrum is an provocative misfire, but despite a promising and unfriendly setup - Ray Walston’s would be songwriter tries to preserve Dean Martin’s promiscuous crooner in the diminutive town he breaks down in long enough to choose his songs by using his wife as bait: but, being insanely jealous, he hires Kim Novack to pretend to be his wife only to unruffled derive himself becoming jealous - it never really delivers the laughs. Walston, replacing Peter Sellers after he dropped out because of a heart attack, is too enormous and Novak’s Marilyn-with-a-cold impression too artificial, while Dean Martin’s gleeful self-parody as a drunken lecherous and very superficial crooner called Dino sometimes seems a exiguous too sidelined. Only Cliff Osmond really comes up with the goods with a performance that’s often as theatrical as the patently phoney soundstage sets. Some nice moments, but this time Wilder and Diamond seem too enamoured of the censor-baiting premise to fabricate it really work.

Sex runs rampant throughout Billy Wilder’s films. One can only wonder what they would have been like if he had continued past the sexual revolution of the unhurried sixties. As it is, this microscopic region section of the swinging sixties shows a tolerance, if not sanction, of the stray, recreational encounter, while celebrating the bond of devotion.

Dean Martin and Kim Novak are boring on as the swinging idol and the experienced escort, but the centerpiece of the movie is a loving couple. Ray Walston has been criticized as being too serious and energetic as the jealous husband, a section originally created for Peter Sellers impartial before a heart attack forced the casting change. Sellers would have added the accurate droll touch to sustain the early jealousy scenes from getting uncomfortably realistic. But this character requires Walston’s strong emotional depth to obtain his sudden adore and protection of an imposter wife hired for the id-driven singer believable. Plus, Walston’s broadway musical background doesn’t damage when he ends up singing the strange Gershwin tunes he has supposedly written and is trying to sell to the lusting Dino.

Felicia Farr has the pivotal role of the stunning wife with a healthy enough spirit to tolerate and honest her husband’s foibles, and bag a scheme to encourage him by indulging in some recreational fulfilment. She is the embodiment of early sixties sophistication.

Well, I have finished comparing `The Official First Season ` DVD plot of One Step Beyond to the other sets previously available (Mill Creek, Delta, etc.) and I am very impressed with the inequity. All the new music seems to be intact and the black soundtrack that plagued those ragged sets with an underlying hum and relate is now distinct and super. The `full-screen’ restored record is not only heavenly, but has been restored to its tubby image. When I played the episodes side-by-side using picture-in-picture I discovered that the recount on the others are all unnecessarily cropped. $35 seems a petite high for a three-disk site, but I’m satisfied this series is getting the respect it deserves and I’m enjoying it. I only wish I had never seen them before so I could study them all for the first time.

One Step Beyond had a total of 97 episodes and ran for three seasons from Jan 1959 to July 1961. Twilight Zone premiered nine months later, in October 1959, and it truly went beyond its predecessor. For example on One Step Beyond a person would have a dream that the Enormous is going to sink whereas on the Twilight Zone, a person may wake up and collect themselves actually on that ill-fated ship. Peaceful, the stories on One Step Beyond are fun in a spooky sense. Season one has 22 episodes, season two 39 episodes, and season three, 36.

I fair had to say “thank you” to CBS/PARAMOUNT for finally giving this series an official release. After many years of seeing nothing but aged beat-up 16mm prints, I’m going to immensely like seeing nice 35mm prints of this ample point to. I impartial hope all of the recent music is left intact and that all 3 seasons are released. A enormous bonus would be to have unusual commercials, if available & a CD release of all the music. It’s also titanic to peer that BONANZA is getting an official release as well. I hope that CBS/PARAMOUNT continues to dig into its vaults and release more mammoth TV treasures. My pre-order is in and I can’t wait until September 15!! I hope those of you who are thinking about ordering this plot will do so to ensure the release of seasons 2 & 3.

**REVIEW UPDATE** 9/16/09

Couldn’t wait for it to be shipped so I went out and bought it! Audio and video quality are favorable. Now, for all you perfectionists, there are some light spots and a scratch here and there but this presentation is SOOOOO remarkable better than anything I’ve seen before!! I’ve only watched 3 episodes so far, but they looked and sounded splendid. The extended pilot episode has audio that is a dinky “draggy”, but it’s not very distracting. The best allotment is all the fresh music was intact. Of course, I had to contemplate “The Devil’s Laughter” and all I can say is — WOW!. I never notion I’d behold this note survey and sound this expedient. This dwelling is well worth the money. Fair as titanic as The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits. Sales of this note and BONANZA should be grand enough to merit the release of more season sets (I hope) . BTW, there’s a sticker on the front that has a quote from the author of the One Step Beyond guide, John Muir. It says “this is the presentation that the fans have been waiting for…”. I assume I’ll agree with that. Consume IT!!

One of the few shows that I feel deserves a higher ticket! This exhibit is a must-have for any Adult Swim lover, or anyone who enjoys any off-the-wall type humor. The yell casting is also very well done, with many “I eye that squawk!” moments. With so many shows and DVD sets being pumped out recently, it’s hard to impart which are worth your time and/or money, I objective want to say that this is definitely one of them. A must have, especially for the designate.

The Harvey Birdman Attorney At Law series is an instant well-liked that has something for everyone comedy-wise. Even the DVD sleeves do me laugh due to the artwork and references to the indicate. The demonstrate is quick-witted with both high and rude brow humor. Almost everything is innuendo, except when Birdgirl has something on her mind. The reveal is posthaste paced and will cause lots of double-takes. The display parodies the moral system, corporate life, and even well known criminal cases.

I affirm history in a public school so using this DVD in my classroom is not a viable option. However, if you are in a Christian school or homeschool with a Christian emphasis I can enthusiastically recommend this series.

“East Meets West” has two 30 slight plus programs about Turkey and Asia Minor. Turkey is literally where the Middle East meets the West.

In episode 1, Dave Stotts takes us to Cappadocia, a original situation with an underground city and roots in the Aged Testament and in the post-Biblical era as a scene of anti-Christian persecution by both the Romans and the Muslims.

Episode 2 is the stronger of the two. It covers the Emperor Constantine, the controversy that caused the creation of the Nicene Creed, the drop of Constantinople and the amazing Hagia Sofia church turned to mosque now museum.

Episode 3 is a “best of” for the first 4 volumes with a blooper reel.

Okay - bottom line. The history is pleasant. The presentation is light and effective. The graphics are immense. It’s silly. Highly recommended.

This 4th disk in the series focuses on Turkey and the land of Asia Minor’s role as a point of convergence between Eastern and Western civilizations. While it is as interesting as the first two disks in the series (I have not seen the third yet), it is a bit old-fashioned as a accomplish to the series.

One of the signs that a series has “jumped the shark” or is running out of ideas is when there is a “best of” exhibit tacked on, as there is in this disk. For those of you who are not grumpy middle-aged men or do not observe “TV Land”, there was a ’70s TV indicate called Elated Days, with Ron Howard, who is now a notorious movie director. A approved character of many fans of the exhibit was a biker named “Fonzie”, played by Henry Winkler. When the indicate ran out of kindly ideas, the producers moved the fictional dwelling of the demonstrate from Milwaukee to Los Angeles, and in one of the later episodes Fonzie jumped over a shark - I don’t remember whether it was on water skis or on his motorcycle. At that point it was sure that the exhibit was running out of ideas.

Like so many other reviewers here, I grew up with this annual treat, and the DVD renews fond memories. But this particular TV special did something noteworthy more well-known for me in the long run–it got me keen in reading. I read the Dickens anecdote as a result of watching it, and that led to a lifelong cherish of the written word. I’m a novelist now, and I owe it all to Mr. Magoo!

PARENTS, Win NOTE: The chronicle is terrific, the songs are savory, and every kid loves Mr. Magoo. And it manages to fetch the clear love-thy-neighbor message across in 52 keen minutes, with every famed moment and well-known line intact–a lot easier on smaller children than the many 2-hour movie versions with live actors. Try parking your kids in front of this. Maybe they will do what I did and arrive for the book. And glance it with them–it really is magnificent, and you’ll be pleased it, too.

I can collected remember sitting and watching “Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol” at my grandparent’s house during the Christmas season when I was a kid. This DVD brings assist so many fond memories. While the animation may seem simple by some of today’s standards the entire production is first rate! From the adaptation of a classic account, to the songs written for the cartoon, to roar talents and performances it is all top quality and will be enjoyed by both children and adults! When I got this DVD, I introduced it to my kids and it has become a Christmas tradition (along with A Charlie Brown Christmas) . Highly recommended!

If there are any films that offer a amazing sense of worship for the cinema, they are the films of Jean-Luc Godard. But, as he explains in a brief interview from 1964 that is included with this fair DVD, he was also against film; that is, against the conventions and rules that predominated French cinema. So he introduced unconventional methods of telling stories and making movies and decided to include elements that films typically left out. “Band of Outsiders” is a sportive, unconventional, mesmerizing fable of small-time gangsters and young admire status in 1960s Paris. Its source material runs the gamut from the pulp crime modern on which it is based to the American B-movies and film noir that inspired its scrutinize. It’s Godard’s best adore letter to Paris since “Breathless,” and also one of the last of his accurate Original Wave films.

The chronicle might be simple enough: Arthur and Franz enlist the abet of the young, graceful Odile to stage a robbery. But if the tale is simple, everything else around it is not. Here we get allusions and homages to Arthur Rimbaud (the poet whom one of the characters is named after), Franz Kafka, film composer Michel Legrand, “The Umbrellas of Cherbourg,” T.S. Eliot, Shakespeare, American cartoons, Jack London, Charlie Chaplin, Andre Breton, Andre Malraux, and numerous others. That’s Godard doing his thing, and even if we miss those allusions, there’s so distinguished more to be cherished: the notorious slight of silence, the running visit through the Louvre, the dance scene, the attractive closeups of Anna Karina, riding on the underground metro, the trio driving through the streets of Paris.

“Band of Outsiders” is waggish, wondrous, hilarious, breezy, but at the same time melancholic, sunless in its undertones. Raoul Coutard’s photography gives it a stark witness, but its playfulness is its most alluring aspect, along with Godard’s wonderfully bright, inventive visual language. It might not be the finest example of the French Current Wave, nor is it as perfect as a work of art as “Breathless” and “My Life to Live,” but in its flaunting of cinematic invention, its richness, and its embodiment of pure cinema, it’s in a class by itself and certainly a film that should be seen, if not owned, by lovers of cinema. Its most memorable moments will remain in your mind forever.

Many Godard fans, myself included, have been waiting eagerly for this Criterion edition of “Band of Outsiders.” It’s a noteworthy digital transfer; the images and contrasts are crisp; the mono soundtrack is as sure as possible. The additional features are worth the ticket of the DVD alone, including a visual glossary that explains many of the film’s allusions and a brief interview in which Godard explains the philosophy gradual the Unusual Wave. Criterion has really outdone itself with this disc, and that’s saying something.

I recommend that, even if you do not know French, you should view this film at least once with the subtitles off since they sometimes obscure the closeups that accomplish this film so memorable. When the camera is on Anna Karina’s face, occupy me when I say you don’t want anything to stand in its scheme.

‘Band of outsiders’ is Jean-Luc Cinema Godard’s most endearing film - a teen movie played by adults, a fancy legend, a heist movie, a serial, a slapstick comedy, an anthology of Unique Wave magic. As with previous films, Hollywood genre is made a complete nonsense, continually deflated by extended bits of business, my favourite being the attempt to beat the report for racing down the Louvre’s corridors unbiased before the heist.

As with all early Godard, the joy of ‘Band’ is in the bouyant playfulness of his style - the high, long shots looking down on bustling activity; the long car-journeys through Paris streets; the intense close-ups on Anna Karina (Godard’s wife), eluding all meaning, or the sheer rapture in watching her running along pavements, or crossing a river; the messing around disused yards; the lengthy quotes and allusions that stall the action and give resonance to the comic goings-on and the turmoil of the characters in them; the unwavering long takes with intriguing exact sound; the roguish homages to aged Hollywood; the narrator’s bumptious intrusions, equating events with ‘bad B-movies’.

More than Louis Malle’s ‘Zazie dans le metro’, ‘Band’ is the ultimate Raymond Queneau film - Karina’s character is named after the heroine of Queneau’s roman a clef ‘Odile’, a book about the writer’s fracture with the Surrealists, impartial as ‘Band’ signals Godard’s outpacing the Original Wave - with its deadpan marginal heroes, its elusive heroine who doesn’t want to be elusive; its romanticising Paris, especially its margins and its pull to the embankments; the attractions like circuses and funfairs intruding on the everyday. Godard finds a cinematic equivalent for Queneau’s fable express - its flip melancholy; its casual intellectualism; its disappear from messing about to the philosophical to slapstick to dreams to the tragic and wait on again; in the self-consciousness of the characters; in the chronicle mix of whim, genre and destiny.
